Kate Middleton Raids the Royal Jewelry Box and Borrows the Queen's Earrings Again

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have recently been enjoying some family time on a visit to Balmoral, the queen's Summer residence in Scotland, and on Sunday, they were spotted driving to church. Kate Middleton sat next to the queen, and fans quickly spotted that she was wearing a familiar pair of earrings. For the second time, Kate borrowed the diamond and pearl drop earrings from the queen. Her Majesty's Jewel Vault identified them as the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings, which the queen has worn on numerous occasions in the past. She first lent them to Kate back in 2016, when she wore them for a Remembrance service in London.

The queen has always been generous about lending jewels from her extensive collection to members of the royal family. In fact, the Countess of Wessex has also been spotted wearing these earrings in the past. Kate has borrowed numerous pieces, including brooches and necklaces, and who can forget the stunning tiara she wore on her wedding day? Ahead, see this latest outing for these beautiful royal jewels, as well as the previous times both Kate and the queen have sported the diamond and pearl drops.

When Elizabeth married Philip Mountbatten in 1947, the ruler of Bahrain gave them a gift of a pearl shell containing seven large pearls. Two of the pearls were combined with diamonds to create the drop earrings.

Queen Elizabeth II has worn the earrings on numerous occasions, most recently at another Remembrance event, the Festival of Remembrance in 2015, just one year before Kate borrowed them.
