After winning the US women's soccer team World Cup twice and getting married right before the pandemic, Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger have just barely graduated from the "two under 2" club with 2-year-old daughter Sloane and their 8-month-old son Ocean.

Despite the lack of sleep, Harris tells POPSUGAR being parents to two has been amazing. "We are so happy as a family. We're so grateful for our two kids and what they've brought to our lives. But we're living in a state of exhaustion for sure." Krieger adds, "It's going by so quick and it's like, I want to pause time a little bit."

"Clearly we're not sleeping as much as we would like, but that means we just have to make up for it in other ways, like putting the right things in our body."

The two still carve out time together to enjoy being a couple. "We try once a week to go to lunch by ourselves and explore around our town that we live in the off-season," Krieger says. "We try not to talk about the kids! We have to make sure that we're good and we're still strong as a team in order for our household to be in a good place." But the weekends are for family, Krieger says. "That's really critical for us. Whether it be a Saturday or Sunday, that's our time as a family to connect."

The couple also knows the importance of nourishing themselves as individuals. As professional athletes and new moms, "Clearly we're not sleeping as much as we would like, but that means we just have to make up for it in other ways," Harris says, like "putting the right things in our body." And the two rely on communication to make sure they're each getting what they need.

"I think what's so beautiful about Ali and I's relationship is we're very OK with being vulnerable," Harris says. "When I hit my max, I am not scared to tell her that and just say, I'm really struggling and I'm on fumes. I have no sleep and soccer's hard and all these things." Resetting may look like needing an hour alone or a night off from doing feeding and diaper duty. They also build alone time into each day; Harris, for instance, practices cold water therapy every morning. "We're really good at sharing that type of responsibility and understanding," Harris says.

The couple gave us an inside look at their must-have products that they simply can't live without — the things that they rely on to make them better parents, stronger athletes, and happier human beings. From the perfect cup of coffee to specialized skin care treatment for playing soccer all day in the sun, check out their go-tos.

Ashlyn Harris's Affordable Must Have: Aquaphor Lip Repair

Before leaving the house, Harris always applies Aquaphor Lip Repair ($4) to lock in moisture. The dermatologist-recommended balm works alongside her favorite recovery method. "Cold water therapy on my body and my face is very, very important for me. It's just how I kickstart my day," Harris says. "There's nothing like it." While an ice cold plunge is popular among athletes to reduce inflammation, Harris also enjoys its skincare benefits. The cold water tightens pores, reduces redness, and prevent signs of aging. She finishes her routine with Aquaphor, which acts as a moisturizer to prevent dryness throughout the day.

Pro Tip: The lip repair treatment doesn't have to stay strictly on your mouth. The balm contains shea butter and chamomile which is safe to rub on the rest of your face to act as a replacement to face moisturizer.

Ali Krieger's Affordable Must Have: Perrier Sparkling Water

For Krieger, it's all about carbonation. While she does drink "normal water" during training, "I have to have sparkling water throughout the day," she admits. And then later at night, if there's a game, "I'll obviously add some electrolytes to it, but I just have to have sparkling water over still water." Her fave is Original Perrier ($6 for four bottles), but she'll also allow La Croix. "We have a subscription for both," she laughs.

Pro Tip: Studies show carbonated water actually helps with digestion by encouraging more swallowing which reduces constipation. Something to consider next time a waiter asks, "Sparking or still?"

Ashlyn Harris's Investment Must Have: The Restorative Skin Complex with TriHex Technology

Ashlyn Harris's Investment Must Have: The Restorative Skin Complex with TriHex Technology

Harris is very particular about her skincare, which is why her go-to for anti-aging is The Restorative Skin Complex with TriHex Technology ($199). "I am obsessed with the Alastin Skincare line and especially their expensive collagen resurfacing technology," she says. The serum focuses on brightening complexion, restoring volume to thinning skin, and improving elasticity. For bedtime, she applies AlphaRet Overnight Cream ($130), which combines retinoid with an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA).

Harris admits that she's "snooty" about investing in her skincare routine. "I want to look good for a long time and I need to do the right thing," she says. "So I invest in skincare heavily and it's expensive."

Pro Tip: One of the major benefits of the creams are that they help protect skin from further damage with antioxidants — which is major for a soccer player. In fact, Harris invests in high-quality UV protection to pair with her high-quality skincare, saying, "I don't just put any type of sunscreen on every day."

Skincare is top of mind for Krieger as well, specifically Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, which can cost between $350 to $650 depending on the treatment center. "I do the I.P.L. laser treatments on my face because we play out in the sun every day," she says. "That's our job. We have to be outside and you can only use sunscreen so often before it starts to sweat off and you most likely can't reapply in the middle of training." IPL treatments, also known as a photofacial, can undue some of the damage caused by the sun by using heat to get rid of unwanted skin cells. "I think it's done wonders over the years. I started when I was 25 and so I think that's really helped me just with my job," Krieger says.

She goes to dermatologist Dr. Dimitry Palceski at Reflections Dermatology but there are at-home LED light therapy treatments like Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro ($455), which is a POPSUGAR editor's favorite.

Pro Tip: To maintain your IPL treatments, it's recommended to use a topical retinoid or glycolic acid lotion every day. It's an expensive investment, but "it's a smart one for us, considering what we do," Krieger says.

Ashlyn Harris's Morning-Routine Must Have: Onyx Coffee Lab's Southern Weather

"I have to start my day with a good cup of coffee," Harris says. "Nothing's worse than waking up and putting gasoline in your mouth." Krieger laughs and nods her head in agreement with her wife, making it clear this is something she understands intimately. "Quality coffee just sets me up for success for the rest of the day," Harris continues.

And she isn't just rolling up to Starbucks before practice. "I order and grind own my beans," Harris admits, somewhat sheepishly. "Listen, I'm nuts." The family has a monthly subscription of five pounds of Onyx Coffee Lab's Southern Weather Whole Beans ($98), which is the brand's "House" filter option and what they brew in their own cafes. But both say Harris wasn't always a coffee nut. "It's been a lot of trials and let's just say I'm not going to the grocery store and picking it off the shelf and putting it in my coffee maker," Harris says. "I just can't, even the smell of it makes me — oof!"

Pro Tip: Grind the beans at home, because that's when you'll understand Harris' obsession with freshness. "They're always like, 'Can we grind your beans?' No, you can't, thank you," Harris says. "I like it fresh." When the Southern Weather beans break they release citrus oils which is where you'll taste the notes of milk chocolate, plum, and candied walnuts.

Ali Krieger's Morning-Routine Must Have: Oat Milk Latte

Krieger is very particular about maintaining her morning ritual. "So Ash is the coffee guru, but I also need to start off [with] like, an oat milk latte and the news — and just have my time before the kids wake up," Krieger says.

In fact, the two have a strict routine that starts at 6 a.m. "We are very, very selfish in the morning with taking care of ourself first. And then we wake up and then we focus on the children," Harris says. "So we have to get all the things moving and grooving and feeling good. That way we're the best versions of ourself for our children."

Pro Tip: Even if you're not about that dairy-alternative lifestyle, starting the morning with a routine curated to your idea of wellness is the most important thing. Whether it's investing in a Nespresso Vertuo Plus Coffee and Espresso Machine ($200) or spending the morning at your local coffeeshop, make time to reconnect with yourself first.

Ashlyn Harris's Sleep Must Have: Align Women's Dual Action Probiotic Supplement

Harris is a big advocate of supplements and uses them to help with recovery. "You go into these extreme intense workouts and you push your body to the limits and you're very sore," she says. "I really believe in doing all natural supplements that aren't prescription based." While you might not think of probiotics as recovery aids, both Harris and Krieger love Align Women's Dual Action Probiotic Supplement ($30), which targets two areas: gut and feminine health. By adding good bacteria to your gut, it helps soothe abdominal discomfort and monthly mood balance, which helps ensure you're performing your best.

Pro Tip: Probiotics are best taken on an empty stomach, so before breakfast or right before bed. "I have some really hard issues sleeping overall, just from years of playing," Harris says. Knowing she's doing what she can to take care of her body while she sleeps helps her catch some Z's.

Ali Krieger's Sleep Must Have: Eberjey's Gisele Sleepshirt

Krieger says she has to have comfy PJs like Eberjey's Gisele Sleepshirt ($118). "I love the material. It's just so soft," Krieger says. She's also a fan of double dipping — as in, wearing PJs out of the house. For example, Krieger gets Skims she can wear to bed but also out all day, like the Cotton Jersey T-Shirt ($48) and Cotton Rib Leggings ($54), both in the color "Bone."

She buys chic PJs for her kids too: "We buy a lot of Posh Peanut onesies for my kids and their pajamas are amazing." That's when she started wandering into their adult options. And while she's not ready to post any Mommy and Me pics on Instagram, Harris swears Krieger does it at home: "Let me tell you, she does the whole matchy-matchy thing."

Pro Tip: Investing in pajamas as self-care was a real game changer for Krieger. "I sleep so well in all of those brands."

Ashlyn Harris's Sneaker Must Have: Adidas Forum Mid Shoes

Despite wearing a uniform for work, Harris is notorious for her sense of style. And she isn't afraid to mix and match sneakers with her various outfits. "Like I wear high tops Adidas sneakers all the time, and I can dress them up with suits or I can just wear my everyday streetwear with them," she says. "So I love it." She's admittedly "big into sneakers," and The Adidas Forum Mid Shoes ($110) are her go-to.

Pro Tip: Don't be afraid to wear something casual like a sneaker with something more luxe. It's all about balance, which Harris has achieved after years in the spotlight. Also, sneakers endorsed by a world-champion athlete? Don't walk, run to check these out!

Ali Krieger's Sneaker Must Have: Adidas Ultra 4DFWD Shoes

Ali Krieger's Sneaker Must Have: Adidas Ultra 4DFWD Shoes

When asked if Krieger considers herself a sneaker head, she was quick to claim the title. Krieger is also an Adidas athlete, "so we get a lot of runners and I think that they've been the most comfortable brand that I've worn over the years and in my career." She lives in her Adidas' Ultra 4DFWD Shoes ($220) in core black, "I use them every day in the gym or going to training or just going on a run."

Pro Tip: These babies are the ideal running shoe. What's super cool is the rubber outsoles provide extra grip — which means you can be on the go no matter the weather conditions. Pair it with Skim's cotton rib leggings and you're basically a carbon copy of Ali Krieger — minus the champion status (sorry!).
