I love a good Lenny & Larry's cookie. In fact, sometimes I'll run across the street to the nearest Duane Reade just so I can eat this scrumptious protein-filled snack at work (because my creativity flows better when I'm fully satisfied and consuming sweets that come with added fuel). My favorites are Snickerdoodle, plain old Chocolate Chip, and Peanut Butter, all with 16 grams of protein, though I haven't heard a bad thing about any of the flavors (they even have a seasonal Pumpkin Spice cookie!). Now, Lenny & Larry's has launched a line of keto cookies with only three net carbs.
Each cookie — they come in Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, and Coconut — has 5 grams of fiber and 8 grams of plant-based protein (pea protein, to be exact), which means that they're vegan-friendly (note: the packaging indicates the cookies are manufactured in a facility that also processes milk and eggs). They are gluten-free, too. As for sweetening, all three flavors contain stevia extract.
These keto cookies are now available on the Lenny & Larry's website for you to buy in bulk. In mid-October, you can find them in Walmart, and they're coming to Vitamin Shoppe locations in November, a spokesperson confirmed. Ahead, I tested out the three treats to give you a virtual taste. Check out a review and nutrition info breakdown for each.
Lenny & Larry's Chocolate Chip Keto Cookie
In one Lenny & Larry's Chocolate Chip Keto Cookie ($22 for a pack of 12), there are the following:
- Calories: 190
- Total fat: 15 grams
- Total carbohydrates: 15 grams
- Dietary fiber: 5 grams
- Sugars: 2 grams
- Sugar alcohol: 7 grams
- Protein: 8 grams
- Total net carbs: 3 grams (total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols)
Pros: The cookie is thin — not too much for one sitting — and it seems to be just sweet enough. There isn't a shortage of chocolate chips, which is a plus!
Cons: The consistency is a tad dry at first, but the more you chew it, the more moist it becomes to the point that you don't really notice. It's definitely not the same texture as my beloved Complete Chocolate Chip Cookie from Lenny & Larry's, but I don't mind.
Lenny & Larry's Coconut Keto Cookie
In one Lenny & Larry's Coconut Keto Cookie ($22 for a pack of 12), there are the following:
- Calories: 190
- Total fat: 15 grams
- Total carbohydrates: 14 grams
- Dietary fiber: 5 grams
- Sugars: 2 grams
- Sugar alcohol: 6 grams
- Protein: 8 grams
- Total net carbs: 3 grams (total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols)
Pros: This cookie is bursting with coconut flavor — a lot more than I was expecting! It also seems to be thicker and more moist than Chocolate Chip.
Cons: The texture is still a bit dry, but that's not a huge deal. That's the only con to this cookie.
Lenny & Larry's Peanut Butter Keto Cookie
In one Lenny & Larry's Peanut Butter Keto Cookie ($22 for a pack of 12), there are the following:
- Calories: 190
- Total fat: 15 grams
- Total carbohydrates: 15 grams
- Dietary fiber: 5 grams
- Sugars: 1 gram
- Sugar alcohol: 7 grams
- Protein: 8 grams
- Total net carbs: 3 grams (total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols)
Pros: This is by far the most moist out of all three of the cookies. It has major peanut butter flavor but isn't too sweet (probably because of the roasted peanuts).
Cons: Again, the texture is a bit dry, and I can't help but wish that Lenny & Larry's added chocolate chips to it (Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip for the next launch?).
