Wegmans is opening a store in New York City, and many city-dwellers couldn't be happier. That includes me; I live in New York City, am on record stating that Wegmans is the best grocery store in America, and frankly feel like this is my birthday!
Here's the deal: in 2017, Wegmans will open a new store on Admiral's Row in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. While it will actually be the smallest of Wegmans' 80-plus stores, the new supermarket will be bigger than the nearby Whole Foods and Fairway stores in Brooklyn. Wegmans is known for treating its workers well and, as a result, is often ranked among the best employers in the country. It plans to bring that spirit to Brooklyn, with the store adding 200 new full-time jobs and 600 total jobs to the neighborhood, Fort Greene, in which it's located. CEO Danny Wegman told The New York Times, "People need not just good food, but good jobs. Brooklyn provides an incredible opportunity for both."
So we have delicious food, fair jobs, and beloved Wegmans coming to New York. I'm not the only one over the moon at this news. Cue a collective Internet freak-out!

Is it strange that I got irrationally excited to hear about a Wegmans opening in Brooklyn in two years?
