Chip and Joanna Gaines spend a lot of time together. Like, a lot of time; not only are they spouses and parents to four children, but they're also business partners at the helm of the Magnolia empire. And this is where they differ from most couples. While most relationships thrive with a little bit of space, the Fixer Upper stars are best when they're together.

Joanna got candid in a recent post on her blog, and we were both touched and fascinated by what she had to say. The post starts with an excerpt from their upcoming book, The Magnolia Story. "One pretty amazing thing we learned early on was that the more time we spent together, the better our relationship was. . . . We seem to give each other energy. We function better together than we do apart, and I don't think either one of us has ever felt the urge to say, 'I need a break from you.'" While Joanna clarifies that this doesn't mean they don't have arguments, it does mean that they don't need time apart to feel refreshed or realize how much they miss each other.

To demonstrate her point, Joanna told a both touching and hilarious story of Chip having to do a local news interview about house flipping by himself because Joanna had given birth to one of their kids a few days prior. The usually loquacious real estate pro was a complete mess. "He was stuttering and and stumbling over every word that fell out of his mouth. The interviewer would ask a simple question about our flips and he couldn't even form coherent sentences," Joanna wrote. "This is the day we learned that Chip was camera shy. And also the day that we realized we definitely work better together than we do apart."
