This Is Why Adriana Lima's Wax Figure Marks a Milestone For Victoria's Secret and Brazil

When Adriana Lima walked the Victoria's Secret runway for the 16th time this year, we thought she had hit the biggest moment in her career, but only a few weeks after the taping of the show (airing on Dec. 8), the ever-changing Brazilian supermodel has reached another milestone: her own wax figure to be displayed at the New York City location of Madame Tussauds.

This wax figure is not like any other. It's not only the second ever modeled after a Brazilian to live in the NYC museum (the first one being soccer legend Pelé) but also the first VS-inspired one, clad in a look from the 2013 fashion show and created after thousands of fans requested it. We caught up with Adriana at the reveal of her look-alike to talk about the process and reminisce about her favorite moments with the brand. Keep scrolling to read what she had to say, then discover her biggest beauty secrets and check out gorgeous backstage photos from this year's show.

"Honestly, it's an honor and I never thought I would achieve so much in my life. I'm very thankful to Victoria's Secret and my fans and Madame Tussauds for making this possible. This is the best gift that I could receive for traveling all the time, and leaving Brazil, and for being here and there, and sometimes leaving my children — not that I'm complaining, I love my job. It's the best gift I could receive for the effort and hard work, really, and I'm so thankful."

On Why She's Dedicating This Honor to Brazil

"As a Brazilian, to be only the second person from the country, next to Pelé, to have a wax figure in the New York City Madame Tussauds . . . It's really major for me. I wanted to dedicate this to Brazil, because my country is what I carry with me throughout the years. When I left, I decided to always carry my culture with me, and the same girl that left it's this girl. I try to keep the same values. I have not changed from back then. I grew up, I had kids, maybe I dress up much better, wear different makeup, but it is the same girl from Brazil, and that all has to do with keeping our culture close, and showing our culture and our values around the world. That's what I try to do when I work, for Brazil."

"This wax figure is major, but my favorite moment was when I opened for the first time at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, because it's something that I never thought that I would do or achieve when I first started modeling. That was huge for me."

"You're looking at my favorite outfit. Red is my favorite color. It's the opening of the Parisian Nights segment in the 2013 fashion show. I love Paris and I lived there part of my life. And this is one of my favorite wings too, they're pretty and they were connected to my arms so I could move as much as I wanted and flutter the wings. It just flowed with my body."

On Getting Ready to Create the Figure

On Getting Ready to Create the Figure

"For workouts, I love boxing all the time. The boxing sessions are not something I do for one particular thing. The boxing and my workout regimen, it's something that I do because I love it. I do it every day no matter what. So the difference from the show to this is not how I prep but the work it took mostly.

"There are so many more measurements, over 200, and matching the skin tone, to the eye color, the hair, even the tattoo on my foot. The beauty mark I have on my face! It took over five hours. I was wearing the outfit and they built a stage where they could turn me 360 degrees. There are many pictures we took from different angles, also some of them were three dimensional, so they could look at my body later as they created the figure. I mean they matched my teeth, the exact color — they took a mold of my teeth — it's the whole thing; my hands as well. It was really interesting to see it and see the final result."
