Anuel and Farruko Call Out Puerto Rico Governor During Premios Juventud Performance and Ask Him to Resign With Dignity

Anuel and Farruko called out Puerto Rico governor Ricardo Rosselló and asked him to resign during their Premios Juventud performance. The two Latin urban artists took the stage at Univision's award show to perform their song "Delincuente," which talks about how some people perceive these performers to be criminals for how they act, dress, or what they say, but in reality no one knows all the grind behind their success.

At the end of their performance, Farruko took the mic to denounce the current situation in Puerto Rico. Two former officials of Ricardo Rosselló's government were arrested by the FBI after an ongoing corruption investigation. To top it all off, an almost 900-page transcript of text messages between the governor and 11 of his top aides and cabinet members was leaked. In the texts, the men shared misogynistic, homophobic, profanity-laced, and downright cruel text messages. Once these were made public, it prompted those who were still part of the government to resign, except Rosselló.

Puerto Rico has taken its disgust and dissatisfaction with the government to the streets in numerous protests that have gathered some of Puerto Rico's most prolific voices. While Anuel and Farruko were not in Puerto Rico, they used their platform at Premios Juventud to send a clear message.

"Maybe Anuel and I are not the best to lead by example because we've made many mistakes, but we accept them and raise up, and thank God for giving us a second chance and thank you all for your continued support," Farruko said. "I hope the governor of Puerto Rico does the same for youth, because he hasn't done it. He's abused the people and has made fun of all of us. Have a little bit of dignity, if you have any left, and resign. We need leaders, not people who will steal from us."

Anuel went on to add, "We need less criminals dressed as politicians."
