5 On-the-Go Diaper Bag Essentials For Messy Parenting Moments

It's time to get prepared with the ultimate diaper bag! We've partnered with Target to share one mom's diaper bag essentials for on-the-go parenting.

As a new mom of twin girls, there is one thing I know for sure: be prepared for anything! Whenever I venture out with my little ones, I make sure to carry all the essentials in my diaper bag. And because I have to wrangle two tiny humans, I try to avoid bringing anything unnecessary. I like to have my diaper bag always ready to go so when I’m running out the door, it’s one less thing to worry about. Here are my essentials — conveniently all from Target — that are always in my diaper bag. They will save you from messy moments, meltdowns, and much more!

Pick an Ultra-Organized Bag

I have tried A LOT of diaper bags. This Skip Hop Greenwich Diaper Bag is by far my favorite. I love how incredibly functional and stylish it is — so much that I have it in two colors! Backpacks are really practical for me since they free up both of my arms. The side cupholder is great because it allows for easy access to your keys, phone, or water bottle. The front pocket is also great because of how deep it is. I can put my huge wallet in there, along with a few other things. The inside has two pockets that I use to store snacks, and there’s a separate zipper that holds a changing pad. In that zippered compartment, I keep my next favorite: dirty diaper bags!

Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Bags seal off diapers so they don't emit any odors. I cannot leave the house without these! They have been such a lifesaver in so many circumstances. If you don’t have a trashcan nearby, these will quickly become your new best friend. Now what’s a diaper bag without some diapers? We’ve been using Pampers diapers for a really long time, and they just released Pampers Pure Diapers, which is what I now buy. I love that they are made without chlorine bleach or fragrance parabens. They are wonderful on sensitive skin and have adorable prints on them. Make sure to always bring a few more diapers than you think you’ll need. There have been a few occasions where I had one more diaper to last me a couple hours. Don’t let yourself be in that position — just bring extra! I also keep a few diapers and wipes in the car as well now. The Pampers Pure Wipes are also amazing! I use wipes for EVERYTHING. Bottoms, hands, tables — you name it!

I also keep Babyganics Hand Sanitizer in the front compartment of my bag since I use it so often. Whenever I’m running errands or if we go to the park, I like to have this on hand to avoid potential colds. This one is great because it’s a foam and dries on the skin super fast. I always choose natural baby products to protect my girls from harmful chemicals! I love that Target has all my must-haves in one place, especially items that are natural.

Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? is quite the popular book with my girls right now. I always keep some books in my bag. They could read books all day, every day. And I always keep books in their car seats to read whenever we drive anywhere.

Don't Forget Snacks!

I keep a few Plum Fruit and Veggie Pouches in my bag at all times for a healthy and, yes, EASY snack. When we're out, I’m all about convenience, so a single pouch containing both fruit and vegetables is all I can ask for! And for our snack number two, we have granola bars! Earth’s Best Snack Bars are a great thing to fill my girls up when we are on the go — and they’re not too messy. But let’s be honest, no matter what I feed the girls, one of them will manage to cover their entire face with it. That’s why you need wipes! And lots of them!

So from one mom to another, if you’re prepared for everything, you’ll save yourself in the long run! Make sure to throw a few extra diapers and wipes in that bag because you never know what the day will bring! I’ve learned to not let the fear of a meltdown stop me from going places with my twins. I think it’s great for all of us to get out of the house for a little bit. Like everyone says, you’ll look back on this time and think about how fast it all went by. So throw on that well-packed diaper bag, load those kiddos up in the car, and have some fun!
