The Car Seat That Will Undoubtedly Save Babies' Lives — and Not How You'd Expect

Evenflo has created a car seat to combat one of the largest issues in the parenting community — leaving children in hot cars. The SensorSafe Car Seat ($150) — available exclusively at Walmart — comes with technology that allows a parent to be reminded that their child is strapped into their seat, simply by turning off the car.

With the rise of heat-related vehicular deaths to children, many have either stepped in to help reverse a potentially fatal situation or are raising awareness of the issue through hot-car challenges and demonstrations. This car seat could be a move toward making sure that these types of deaths never have the chance to occur, something that parents can breathe a sigh of relief over.

The way the seat works is through a wireless receiver that is plugged into the on-board diagnostic system of your car, which connects to the sensor on the buckle of the seat. A jingle plays once the car is switched off — or if the car seat's buckle has come undone — to alert the parent that the child is still there before they get out (or that the strap has possibly become unbuckled).

Evenflo's new safety technology comes with the tagline, "Because when a simple reminder can save a life, it just makes sense," in the hope that people will make the switch to their product and save lives — which could possibly inspire other brands to follow suit.
