Alton Sterling's 15-Year-Old Son Has a Powerful Message For People Protesting Police Brutality

In a striped polo shirt, 15-year-old Cameron Sterling spoke about his father, the man killed last week by police while selling CDs outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge, LA. Alton Sterling, he said, was "a good man." Cameron also thanked all those who have supported him and his family and used the opportunity to send a message to people protesting police brutality.

"Protest in peace, not guns."

Not even 48 hours after Sterling died, an officer killed another black man named Philando Castile in Minnesota. People were protesting the killings at a Black Lies Matter rally in Dallas last Thursday when five officers were killed by sniper fire.

"I feel that everyone, yes, you can protest. But I want everyone to protest the right way. Protest in peace — not guns, not drugs, not alcohol, not violence."

Cameron also said we should all come together as one united family no matter what your race is.

Alton Sterling, age 37, was a father of five. Last week, Cameron broke down at a press conference while his mother, Quinyetta McMillan, spoke to the press. The devastating moment is impossible to forget.
