Hillary Clinton Has a Powerful Reminder For Women Following Trump's Inauguration

Hillary Clinton took a break from working on her book of personal essays to offer some words of wisdom at the 2017 Makers Conference. The conference serves as a platform to discuss issues currently impacting women, with important figures like feminist icon Gloria Steinem and actress Octavia Spencer speaking on actionable steps needed to make a change. In a video made for the event, the former presidential nominee provided her first recorded comments on women's rights after Donald Trump's inauguration and the subsequent Women's March.

In the short clip, she reiterated that women have the power to change the world, saying, "Despite all the challenges we face, I remain convinced that YES, the future is female." Clinton also echoed an incredibly powerful sentiment mentioned in her legendary concession speech, saying, "Remember, you are the heroes and history makers, the glass ceiling breakers of the future. As I've said before, I'll say again, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world."

She ended the video with a call to action to women to boldly come together to fight for a change. "We need strong women to step up and speak out," she said. "We need you to dare greatly and lead boldly. So please, set an example for every woman and girl out there who's worried about what the future holds and wonders whether our rights, opportunities, and values will endure."
