P.F. Chang's and Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics TV News Mistake

P.F. Chang's Olympics, Anyone? News Station Apologizes For Embarrassing Mix-Up

"Pyeongchang" and "P.F. Chang" may have some of the same letters, but let's be honest: they are two entirely different things. Unfortunately, a Chicago news station mixed up the two in an embarrassing on-air mistake that's now going viral because people can't believe it actually happened. During a Feb. 11 broadcast, WLS-Ch.7 showed "P.F. Chang 2018" accompanied by an Olympics logo on screen while anchor Mark Rivera spoke about a completely unrelated topic on camera.

The station has acknowledged and apologized for the mistake, noting that it's not an issue of why the graphic was created, but rather when it was supposed to air. A spokesperson for the network said, "The graphic was created for a different satirical piece put together on Friday by sports anchor Mark Giangreco in which viewers were encouraged to invent their own Olympic sports, but it was mistakenly also used for the serious news story read on Saturday by weekend anchor Mark Rivera." We don't envy the person whose job it was to program Saturday's broadcast!

Even P.F. Chang's got in on the humorous moment by tweeting, "Contrary to this broadcast, we're not hosting the games." Way to be a good sport, home of the most addictive chicken lettuce wraps.
