This Is Exactly What Should Happen When You Ask For a Gay Wedding Cake

To celebrate a full year of being engaged to his fiancé, Chris Farias decided to order a cake. He decided to call Cake and Loaf Bakery in Ontario, Canada. As Farias puts it in his own Instagram caption, he requested the "GAYEST cake they could make." According to Farias, they said, "We'll do it!!!" without hesitation. And, well, Cake and Loaf Bakery went above and beyond to deliver. Not only is the cake adorned with a rainbow and a unicorn horn, but it's been decorated with an amazing array of words specific to the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to all the words from the acronym itself, you can also make out "inclusive," "yass queen," "proud," "united," and more inspiring phrases.

On Instagram, Farias expressed how emotional he felt after the bakery presented the cake. "I am in tears right now I'm so happy. Being part of the LGBTQ+ community isn't easy for many. And that's an huge understatement," he wrote. "But I am proud of who I am, and how fare [sic] WE have come. I am proud to be a gay Canadian who can order a cake and not get turned down because of who I love. I love this country, and I love my community."

The official Facebook page for the bakery even shared Farias's post and added some of their own words: "To our customers, employees and our community — the positivity that has been shared since creating this cake has made our hearts truly warm, and very proud to be Canadian," the caption read. "As a business we will continue to strive to have an inclusive, positive and safe environment for our customers AND employees — We will say it loud and proud, as often as we can . . . and hopefully, always with cake."

While the story may not seem like a big deal, it's pretty significant when contrasted with the great gay wedding cake case that the Supreme Court of the United States is currently hearing arguments on. In America, we are currently deciding whether a bakery has the right to refuse same-sex couples as customers based on religious creed. In Canada, a bakery will literally give you the gayest cake imaginable.

Currently, the Supreme Court seems very divided on their decision in the case of homophobic Colorado cake baker Jack Phillips. But hey, maybe if they can just have a small sliver of Canada's openness and enthusiasm, everything might just turn out OK.
