Southwest Celebrated an All-Female Crew With These Epic "Unmanned" Flight Photos

Southwest has always been a favorite airline of not just mine but also millions of travelers who choose it every year. On Wednesday, the popular airline tweeted about its first "unmanned" flight on Oct. 8 — aka one run solely by women — on board the new Boeing 737 MAX 8, from St. Louis to San Francisco, to much praise from its fans.

The flight was piloted by two women, and the entire crew of flight attendants was also women. And while Southwest was sure to point out that this was certainly not the airline's first "unmanned" flight, it was the first on this new fleet of planes — and certainly won't be its last.

This is also not the first time Southwest has been vocal about celebrating women — earlier this year, planes flying into Washington DC were lit up pink for the Women's March. But lest you think it's only women this airline cares about, let us remind you of when it also flew shelter animals to safety after Hurricane Harvey. You're doing good work, Southwest.
