Fight Evil by Moonlight and Win Love by Daylight With Sailor Moon Eyeliner

I have a love/hate relationship with eyeliner, mainly because one of my eyes is hooded and the other is almond-shaped. I've tried them all; Kat Von D, Stila, Urban Decay, Tarte, NYX, and MAC all serve their purpose in my makeup bag, but I've never fallen truly head over heels for a liquid liner. They all eventually disappoint me in one way or another. My ill-fated liner has always been destined to smudge, which typically leads to me sticking with plain mascara and experimenting with wild lipsticks instead.

So when I was walking around San Francisco's Japanese mall and stumbled across Sailor Moon-themed eyeliner from Creer Beaute, I bought it out of novelty, rather than hope that it could be a genuinely good product. Imagine my surprise when, lo and behold, it blew all of my past liner experiences out of the water!

I'd been in it for the cute product-haul Instagram snap, not a lifetime commitment to a foreign beauty brand.

In truth, I'd been in it for the cute product-haul Instagram snap, not a lifetime commitment to a foreign beauty brand. But Bandai Miracle Romance Sailor Moon eyeliner totally changed the game for me. Immediately after trying out the brown felt-tip liner ($21) that I'd snagged on sale in a random Japanese beauty shop, I went on Amazon and ordered the liner in black ($16). Could it really be that a cartoon-themed liner was actually beating the entire lineup of designer makeup I'd previously tested?

After months of wearing the Miracle Romance Sailor Moon liners almost exclusively, I'm happy to report: yes, they really are a miracle. The brown hue is subtle and consistently earns me compliments on my "no-makeup makeup" days, while the black helps me easily nail a cat eye worthy of Luna and Artemis. Other liner-seekers have found additional hues while traveling in Asia, and fangirls and makeup addicts alike can't get enough.

The liners aren't cheap for American beauty babes thanks to international shipping costs, but if your community has a Japanese beauty store you might be able to snag an inexpensive option. I got my first Miracle Romance liner for $10, including the awesomely geeky heart moon rod topper. The application of the liner is easy, with only one swipe necessary for a precise, thin line of opaque color.

Now that I've tried her makeup brand, it's no wonder that Usagi — or as English-dub fans might know Sailor Moon, Serena — always looks so chic while fighting evil by moonlight. Read on for swatches and a look at the packaging of this surprisingly incredible geek-beauty find!
