The Summer of 2005 was many things, and uneventful definitely wasn't one of them. Wedding Crashers opened in theaters.

Wedding Crashers premiered on July 15, 2005, and the world has never been the same since. Besides dishing up some of the most epic movie lines that you still use to this day, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson inspired a hilarious (well, depending on if you're a guest or the bride) trend.

Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake were a thing.

The couple began dating in April 2003 after meeting backstage at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. But while their love ultimately didn't last (they split in December 2006), their friendship did. Cameron and Justin went on to star in Shrek the Third and Bad Teacher together.

Shakira gave one of the sexiest VMAs performances ever.

Shakira proved that her hips definitely don't lie during her steamy performance of "La Tortura" at the MTV Video Music Awards in August. While other pop stars were relying heavily on props and backup dancers, Shakira let her insane body do the talking.

Beyoncé was still a single lady (technically).

Beyoncé and Jay Z first got together in 2002, but they didn't make things official until they tied the knot in 2008. So, in the Summer of '05, before Blue Ivy even existed, Jay was still just courting his favorite lady.

In June 2005, Destiny's Child announced on stage during a concert in Barcelona, Spain, that they were parting ways at the end of their Destiny Fulfilled . . . And Lovin' It tour. While the three women have remained close since the split, there is a definite hole in pop culture for girl groups with coordinated outfits.

Before Kelly became a dedicated wife and mother, she was a rebellious pop star with massive anthems like "Since U Been Gone" and "Miss Independent." And at the MTV VMAs, the singer nailed the grunge look when she showed up in a "Sweet and Toxic" tank top, black capris, a studded belt, and heavy eye makeup, or, in other words, everything you wish your mom would have let you wear.

Nick and Jessica attended the MTV VMAs in August for what would be one of their last appearances together as a couple. But while their marriage ended that November, the DVD box set of Newlyweds lives on forever.

Jude Law issued a public apology after cheating on Sienna Miller.

After getting caught cheating on his then-fiancée Sienna with his children's nanny, Jude expressed his regret in a public apology in July, saying, "I am deeply ashamed and upset that I've hurt Sienna and the people most close to us. I want to publicly apologize to Sienna and our respective families for the pain that I have caused. There is no defense for my actions which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time." The couple, who attempted to reconcile postscandal, split for good in November 2006.
