7 Possible Settings for American Horror Story Season 7

The season finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke dropped all the way back in November, which means this is officially the longest we've had to wait between seasons of the show. Per usual, we're going a little crazy trying to anticipate when we'll get more new information about the next chapter of the subversive anthology series.

While Ryan Murphy first declared that the seventh season would be election-themed, he clarified that "the themes of American Horror Story have always been allegories. You will not see Trump and Clinton as characters on the show." OK, but there are always real setting and stories, so what is the next season actually about?

Thus, it's time for one of our favorite parts of the AHS life cycle: speculation. Here's where we think season seven could go.

American Horror Story: Cruise Ship

We originally conceptualized this theory for season six: imagine a glorious tropical cruise to Hawaii, but it's quite not the paradise all the guests envisioned. There could be sea monsters! A serial killer! A deadly, flesh-eating bacteria! It obviously didn't pan out, these new hints from the end of season six make a nautical season seem more plausible than ever.

Here's another former idea that could potentially come from the hints mentioned above. After all, the wrecked ship model and the empty ocean sea could hint more to the aftermath cruise ship disaster rather than an onboard nightmare. Imagine if a whole fleet of passengers get moored on a mysterious island. There's no telling what horrors it could hold.

Yep, we're still clinging a little bit to that hint from AHS: Hotel. A boarding school is the perfect place for plenty to go awry. And hey, who knows, maybe the long-lost daughter Lee mentions in Roanoke could pop up there too.

American Horror Story: Space

We've long held out hope for a quiet, unsettling season in the vast, empty vacuum of space. And hey, even Evan Peters is totally down for a season in space, so that's one person on board — literally and figuratively. Plus, there was a very slight nod to the moon landing in Roanoke, when "Matt" and "Shelby" escape that dreaded house in My Roanoke Nightmare and stay at a motel for the night. That little image flashes on the TV, just for a second.

05
American Horror Story: Salem

You may think this seems like a tired theory. AHS has been there and done that, right? We would tend to agree, except Ryan Murphy himself has teased the idea of a Murder/Coven crossover, featuring stars from both seasons. It's worth remembering that Murder House's Harmons came from Massachusetts when they moved to LA, which is why we're suggesting something Salem-related. That's the perfect place for the unfortunate family and the witches to meet.

We've said it before in previous theory posts, and we'll say it again. AHS could take us all the way up to the bitter cold of a remote place like Alaska, where certain parts of the year keep the area cloaked in darkness for days on end. What evil creatures and human monsters lurk in those blizzards and endless nights?

American Horror Story: Orphanage

We couldn't rightfully execute a theory post without taking a solid lead from Reddit. An idea from user Colsephur points out the vast amount of orphans who have been left behind in the first six seasons. There's Michael, the devil child in season one, the very young Polk children and Flora from Roanoke, and even perhaps Lachlan from Hotel. What might happen if all of these scarred youngsters ended up under one roof?
