You'd Be Surprised at the Top Songs and Sexiest Voices Americans Prefer to Get It On To

Turns out that the most preferred aphrodisiac isn't wine, oysters, or chocolate — it's music. Global music streaming service Deezer partnered up with sex, body language, and relationships expert, Tracey Cox, to find out how music affects intimacy. Turns out that a majority of study participants agreed that music improved the overall sexual experience, 30 percent said it makes them more aroused, 25 percent thought it makes sex better, and 15 percent felt it made them more comfortable at the very least.

Interestingly, Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. was discovered to be prime time for bedroom action in the US. Music was also found to be the lead aphrodisiac at over 30 percent, followed by drinking spirits (15 percent), drinking wine (13 percent), and eating chocolate (4 percent). It can't be just any music, however. More than 60 percent of those included in the study said that the rhythm is key in improvement, with the artist's tone and song's melody next important. Results revealed that R&B was the most popular genre to have sex to, with heavy metal and rap as the least preferred.

"Neuroscientists have found people respond more to a beat when it's played by lower pitched instruments," said Cox in a press release. "Physiologically, people's bodies love deep bass sounds, which, if loud enough, also produces vibration and make it powerfully arousing."

You won't be surprised to learn that Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" is Americans' go-to song, according to Deezer's findings:

"Music is a powerful, potent aphrodisiac so I'm not surprised so many Americans find it improves their sexual experiences," said Cox. "Listening to music causes our brain to flood with dopamine, the pleasure hormone. The same thing happens when we're getting intimate, so it effectively puts our bodies 'in the mood.'"
