This Mom's View on What Toys Her Son Is "Supposed" to Play With Is a Must Read

Gender association isn't something children are typically aware of — if they want to play with a toy or wear a certain shirt, it's because they "like it." Simple as that. So when Rheann MacLaren's son chose a pink stroller over dinosaurs and trucks at the toy store, she had no objections — but a woman shopping near them did.

In a post to Facebook, MacLaren shared the woman's comment: "Oh you don't want that, it's just for girls, not boys! It's all pink and girly. There're cars and dinosaurs over there, why would you want that girly thing?!" Before having the opportunity to respond to the stranger shaming her son, MacLaren says he addressed the woman first and did a much better job than she ever could have. His response? "Because I like it."

MacLaren's letter to the woman — which you can read in full above — continues, but her son's response to her is arguably all that matters.
