Kellyanne Conway Seems to Think Trump Will Have a Lot of "Spare Time" as President

While the future of Celebrity Apprentice was uncertain following the election, Donald Trump spokesperson Kellyanne Conway has confirmed that the president-elect has plans to maintain his role as the show's executive producer after he takes office. In an interview with CNN's New Day on Friday, Trump's adviser and former campaign manager said that he will check in on the show in his "spare time."

"He's a very transparent guy. Everyone can see what he's doing, and the fact is that he is conferring with all types of experts who tell him what he can do and not do as president of the United States," Conway said. "If this is one of the approved activities, then perhaps he will consider staying on."

For obvious reasons, Trump will no longer host the show. In his absence, Arnold Schwarzenegger will helm the reality competition under its new name, The New Celebrity Apprentice.

Conway attempted to compare Trump's plans to continue a reality TV career to President Obama taking vacation time. "Were we so concerned about the hours and hours and hours spent on the golf course of the current president? I mean presidents have a right to do things in their spare time, in their leisure time," she said. "The point is the same whether it's President Obama or President Donald Trump; the idea that these men are going to be all work and nothing else all the time is just unrealistic because it's never happened in our lifetimes."

Still, eyebrows across the country are being raised by Conway conflating Obama's days off with Trump's reality TV gig, especially considering the clear conflict of interest stemming from his employment by NBC, a network that will be in a role to report on his presidency. (To note, Trump will be paid by MGM and not NBC directly.)
