We never thought we'd see the day: Madelaine Petsch has said farewell to her iconic red hair color. The Riverdale star debuted her new look on Instagram on Oct. 13 and captioned it "Surprise I'm blonde now." Petsch's extra-long hair also got a massive chop in the photos and was styled in a tousled lob. The transformation was part of a photo shoot with Wonderland magazine, in which an army of beauty pros, including celebrity hairstylist Sabrina Porsche, worked their magic.

Being a redhead is part of not only Petsch's identity, but her character Cheryl's as well. Petsch previously told POPSUGAR, "My hair's naturally red, and if I ever dyed it, I think my mom would disown me. So I don't ever think about dyeing my hair." Chances are the platinum-blond hue is a wig and only temporary, but we're still big fans of the change.

Take a look at Petsch's platinum blond hair color ahead, and take a peek at the rest of the photo shoot for more.
