The Only Thing Hotter Than This End-of-Summer Heat Is Vanessa Hudgens's Smoky Eye

When it comes to eye shadow, I am as beginner as they come, and I usually skip the step altogether when doing my makeup. So, when I saw Vanessa Hudgens's recent beauty look from the So You Think You Can Dance premiere, I knew it'd be a challenge to replicate for my POPSUGAR Beauty Instagram Series, Desktop Beauty.
But it was simply too good to pass up. Celebrity artist Allan Avendano painted a black smoky eye on Hudgens, and paired it with a rosy nude lipstick. Naturally, she made it look ridiculously easy, but the real test was for an eye shadow novice like me. What I Used
To replicate this dramatic eye makeup, I used some of the exact products Allen used on Hudgens, mixed in with a few of my favorites.
Eyes
On my eyes, I followed Allan's exact formula to achieve smoky shadow. I used Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Gel Powder Eye Shadow in Prim-O! ($29) in my inner and outer corner, and left the center of my lids blank to apply a pop of Making a Scene, a shimmery green shade from the Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Edgitorial ($49).
To create the smoky winged-effect, I painted on the Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Dynam-O! ($29) along my crease and outer corner.
Blush
Though the focus of this look is the eyes, I personally believe that no look is complete without blush. To warm up my cheeks, I used Laura Mercier Blush Color Infusion in Sangria ($30).
Lips:
Hudgens paired her dramatic eye with a neutral mauve lip, so to achieve that I mixed two glosses together. I layered on the Beauty by POPSUGAR Be The Boss Lip Gloss ($18) in Take a Bow and Drive Me Crazy to create a nude shade that was close to my natural lip color.
