Guardians of the Galaxy is gearing up to be one of the most exciting movies of the Summer, but last year when I visited the set, the heroes were still the underdogs of the Marvel Universe. Admittedly, I didn't even know much about the intergalactic team played by Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper. Here's what I did know: Pratt had transformed from Andy Dwyer shape to six-pack status for his role as Peter Quill, and this movie takes place in space. Here's everything I learned, felt, and saw. Jet lag is only in your brain, right?
You guys, it looks SO GOOD. There was a lot of stuff from the trailer — which by now we've all seen — but at the time, it was shocking and exciting.
There were rows upon rows upon rows of clothes. It was breathtaking.
I would definitely have looked just as good as Zoe Saldana in all those skintight costumes.
Not that I'm not appreciative, but what's up with those sausages?
Picture a giant warehouse with an itty-bitty table and 15 or so journalists.
He had to walk across the giant room to our itty-bitty table. It was surprisingly not awkward at all.
Listen, I'm not going to claim to know anything about Bautista's wrestling career, but when he walked in painted in gray and red from head to toe, my jaw dropped. The dude is huge — as you should be to be playing someone named Drax the Destroyer — and he also seemed like the sweetest man on earth.
I really should have read a few hundred issues of this comic beforehand.
The set we got to see was gigantic and cavern-like, with a sweet throne at the front. Major props to . . . the props department.
I don't even need a GIF for this — here I am for real.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, free British food? What more could you ever want?
Just kidding! I took copious notes. They're just not legible.
