James Gunn gave a first look at the Suicide Squad sequel's characters during the virtual DC FanDome on Aug. 22. Though originally believed to be a reboot, the impending sequel will be a continuation that features familiar faces while also introducing new characters to carry on the franchise. While Will Smith won't be in the sequel due to scheduling conflicts, his exit did make way for Idris Elba to step in as a new character, so we're not too mad about it! Keep reading to check out the lineup of characters that are officially showing up in The Suicide Squad.

Davis will return as the brains behind Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad. Squad members may come and go, but Waller will always be back to command her rowdy pack of deviants to do her bidding.
The Suicide Squad will be Robbie's third time playing Harley Quinn, following her standalone film, Birds of Prey.
Digger Harkness, aka Captain Boomerang, is back folks! Courtney will reprise his role as the disruptive, boomerang-flinging member.
Kinnaman will return to bring back Waller's right-hand man, who ensures the Suicide Squad behave themselves and constantly reminds them that he's capable of detonating the micro bombs implanted inside them.
Elba originally signed on to replace Smith as Deadshot, but in the interest of leaving Smith the opportunity to return to the franchise in the future, he's taking on the role of Bloodsport.
Cena will portray Peacemaker, an agent of peace with an extremist form of pacifism that makes him love peace so much, he would kill for it.
The Ant-Man star will play the comic book villain Polka-Dot Man, also known as Abner Krill, a low-level crook who is aptly named for his spot-themed crimes.
Reid joins the cast as the daughter of Elba's Bloodsport, Tyla. Curious minds wonder if her character will feature in a similar role as Deadshot's daughter in the first film, aka as leverage over her father.
Variety reported that the Portuguese actress will star as Batman villain Ratcatcher. While the name pretty much tells the whole story, the villain is known for the ability to communicate with and train rats, often resorting to unleashing hordes of the vermin. (Every New Yorker's worst nightmare.)
The Saturday Night Live comedian will appear in the upcoming movie as Blackguard.
The actor — who portrayed Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, both directed by Gunn — will play Savant in the upcoming film.
The Thor: Ragnarok director is crossing over to the DC Comics universe, though his role has yet to be revealed.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 actor will appear in The Suicide Squad as King Shark.
The former Gilmore Girls actor will appear in the movie as Weasel.
The Wonder Woman actress will appear in the movie as Mongal.
The Pitch Perfect 2 star will make an appearance in the movie as Javelin, a former-athlete-turned-villain.
The Narcos: Mexico actor will be in the movie as Major General Mateo Suarez.
The Brightburn actress will make an appearance in the movie as Emilia Harcourt.
The Good Behavior actor will appear as Luna, whose part in the film is largely a mystery.
