Greece's Navagio Beach Is a Real-Life Smuggler's Cove

In 1980, the freightliner MV Panagiotis ran ashore on Greece's Zakynthos Island and has been there ever since. The beach, previously known as Agios Georgios, has now adopted the name Navagio Beach, or Shipwreck Beach. This tucked-away cove is surrounded by massive limestone cliffs that overlook the blue, blue waters, where visitors come to escape real life and bask in the beauty of this beach. Though possibly the most popular beach in Greece and one of the most beautiful in the world, the best view of it is from the cliffs, which aren't easily accessible. Some visitors have suggested renting a car to drive up or taking a bus or taxi, though those options can be pricey and unreliable.

However, even if you only get to see the beach from sea level, it is still a sight to behold. Just keep in mind that it is ridiculously popular and often packed with visitors. If you can swing it, try visiting in the very early morning before anyone else arrives. Then while you're at it, make sure you see the rest of Greece as well.
