Jason Momoa started off September with a fresh haircut. On Sept. 5, the "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" star shared a video on Instagram of him ditching his signature shoulder-length hairstyle for a buzz cut. In the clip, he says he's "shaving off the hair" as he holds up his recently cut braids, and explains the reasoning behind the change. "Doing it for single-use plastics. I'm tired of these plastic bottles, we gotta stop. Plastic forks, all that sh*t. Sh*t goes into our land, goes into our ocean . . . The things in our ocean, it's just so sad. So, please, anything you can do to eliminate single-use plastics in your life."

Saweetie's Buzz Cut

Saweetie revealed her blond buzz cut on Dec. 24, 2021, while on vacation. In an interview with Kevin Hart for the latest episode of his show "Hart to Heart," which aired on Peacock on Aug. 4, Saweetie shared the reason behind her big hair transformation.

"In quarantine, I had time to do a lot of like self-reflection. I learned how to meditate, and through meditation I've had access to my higher self. And that gave me a whole new experience," she said. "I read that hair holds a lot of energy, so it's essentially the metamorphosis of Saweetie and Diamonté — caterpillar into butterfly."

Ireland Baldwin's Buzz Cut

Baldwin recently posted her buzz-cut transformation on Instagram, something she felt was "long overdue." Alongside the announcement, it was also revealed that the model also dyed her hair platinum blond. With a caption that reads "don't tell me I won't do something because I will," Baldwin went further into detail about her decision on her Instagram Stories.

"Do things that scare you. Do things that other people say you'll never do," she wrote. "My hair was destroyed by years of bleach and modeling and bullsh*t since I was 17. It's long overdue for a restart/refresh. I've always wanted to do this but I was always scared. Now that I don't care what other people think, I feel more beautiful than ever."

Doja Cat recently shaved her head on Instagram Live, cutting her head into the buzzed hairstyle. "I feel like I was never supposed to have hair anyway," Doja Cat said on camera before also shaving her eyebrows. "I cannot tell you one time since the beginning of my life that I've ever been like, 'This is cool.'"

Ahead of her role in "Ahead So Long," Coel decided to shave her head because there wasn't a lot of representation in media of dark-skinned women with short hair being represented as a love interest. "When I was growing up I never saw no girls that looked like me doing romantic leads," the actress told BET. "I was pretty determined to do it. And I knew when I get this job and I'm gonna shave my head and I'm going to turn up with no hair and they're gonna have to make it work."
