Woman Called "Too Ugly For Love" Slams Haters

The citizens of the world have seriously progressed when it comes to challenging (and abandoning) unrealistic beauty standards. Childhood playthings are now representative of a much wider demographic. Younger generations are setting an open-minded example for their predecessors. But despite all that progress, there are still too many moments that make us shake our head and say "WTF?"

British woman Lexxie Harford went viral on photo-hosting site Imgur after sharing a handful of her selfies. Lexxie was born with a large birthmark on her face but didn't realize that looked different from other children until she was about 9 years old. "Up until that day I never noticed it," she told ABC News. "It was probably because of the ignorance of a child."

Even though everyone knows that some kids can be cruel, Lexxie said she was never bullied by classmates for her appearance. After graduating from college, she stopped concealing the birthmark with makeup in favor of rocking her natural look. She also keeps her skin bare to raise awareness. "I always wanted to show a birthmark with an open line of communication, where people could ask lots of questions," Lexxie explained.

Recently, Lexxie was approached through social media by producers for two different British reality series. The shows were titled Undateable and Too Ugly For Love?, both of which are reality programs that focus on people with disabilities or medical conditions that cause setbacks in finding relationships.

While this would cause most people to feel shame, rage, or humiliation, she wasn't offended that easily. "'I don't really have a place on the show you're scouting for,'" Lexxie told the booking agent. "If they [people with birthmarks] accepted themselves, they really wouldn't go on a show like that. I would try and get that person to see themselves differently."

We feel completely inspired by Lexxie's confidence, especially in the face of bullies. In the caption for her Imgur post, she said, "I'm absolutely not self-conscious about it at all. I actually like it a lot." Read on to see her gorgeous selfies.
