Bill Hader and Ali Wong Are Dating Again Following a Brief Split in 2022

Bill Hader may be a comedian, but he certainly seems to take his personal life quite seriously. The "Barry" actor was married to filmmaker Maggie Carey for 11 years before they ultimately split in 2017. While Hader has since gotten back in the dating game, he previously opened up to Variety about how his career has affected his family life.

"When I was on 'SNL,' I was a bit of a basket case," he explained of his time on the late-night comedy sketch show. "It could not have been easy on my wife at the time. I was so consumed with work and anxiety." Of welcoming their two eldest daughters, Hannah and Harper, Hader added, "Once our second child was born, I had to leave 'SNL.' It was hard with one kid, let alone two. Because I was just never around."

Hader's love life made headlines once again in late 2019 when he was linked to his "The To Do List" costar Rachel Bilson. In the years following, Hader would continue to garner attention when he was linked to other A-listers, though he wasn't always vocal about those he dated.

In March 2023, Hader explained to The Hollywood Reporter that he doesn't publicly discuss his relationships out of respect for his children. "They just want me to be their dad," he explained. "They just want me to sit and watch 'Encanto' over and over and over again. So that's what I do."

Read ahead to find out who else Hader has been romantically linked to over the years and who he's dating now.

Maggie Carey

Hader and Carey were married from 2006 to 2018, per People. They share three daughters: Hannah, Harper, and Hayley. In January 2019, Hader got emotional while talking about coparenting with Carey during an interview with Variety.

"I think I saw my kids a total of five days all summer," he shared. "It was terrible. So I'm going, 'Next summer I'm taking off. And I'm going to spend every day with them.' It's this weird thing where when you're in this industry, you don't have time to be with them, and it's really, really difficult. I'm getting emotional right now talking about it."

Despite his busy schedule, Hader noted that his relationship with Carey is positive, adding, "I'm friends with my ex-wife."

Rachel Bilson

Years before sparking a romance, Hader and Bilson starred together in the 2013 rom-com "The To Do List," which was directed by the comedian's ex-wife. However, six years later, their friendship seemed to turn romantic after they were spotted on an outing together in Los Angeles in November 2019, per Us Weekly.

A trip to Hader's hometown of Tulsa, OK, the following month seemingly confirmed their relationship. Bilson and Hader went on to make their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2020 Golden Globes, but ultimately called it quits on their relationship in July of that year.

Following his split from Bilson, Hader went on to date Kendrick, whom he starred alongside in the 2019 Disney film "Noelle." People reported in January 2022 that Hader and Kendrick had been dating for over a year, with a source telling the outlet that the duo "got together well after" their film. "They are both very private people, and with the pandemic it was easy to keep it quiet," the source added. "They're both hysterical so they must keep each other laughing all of the time. She's really, really happy."

However, Entertainment Tonight reported in June 2022 that the two had split, despite a source telling ET months prior that Hader and Kendrick were "in love and very happy in their relationship."

Ali Wong

Details about Hader and Wong's romance are scarce, but The Hollywood Reporter noted in a March 2023 feature on Wong that "she was briefly linked to Bill Hader late last year." Wong and Hader both voiced characters in 2016's "The Angry Birds Movie."

In December 2022, an insider told Page Six that the two were "no longer dating." "They dated very briefly," the source added. "They're just super busy with things, but [the split] was certainly amicable. They're certainly friends." A second source told the outlet that part of the reason the pair remained private was because of Wong's 2022 separation from Justin Hakuta. "Only a small circle of A-list comedians know and everyone was thrilled about it. [Their friends] helped them protect the relationship in light of Ali's divorce," the source shared.

On April 18, 2023, just a few months after the pair's split was reported, a rep for Hader confirmed to POPSUGAR that the two are dating again. The update came shortly after Hader revealed that he had a girlfriend during an interview with Collider.
