A Timeline of How Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian Went From Friends to Lovers

In the premiere episode of Hulu's "The Kardashians," Kardashian revealed that her relationship with Barker turned romantic during the pandemic in 2020. "We were texting, and so I just put it out there, like flirtatious conversation," Kardashian recalled. "Finally, once I made it known, he asked me to watch a movie, and the whole movie, he didn't make a move."

When a producer asked Kardashian who went in for the first kiss, Kardashian said she did. "He was taking a long time," Kardashian said. "The movie was over, and then we started another movie, and I was like, 'I don't have time for this movie marathon.' So I made the first move." She continued, "The second we fell in love, I think we knew how different it was from anything either of us have ever had before."

Barker and Kardashian's romance became public in January 2021 when an insider revealed to E! News that the pair were dating. "It's been very low-key. They are a really good match, and Kourtney's entire family already loves Travis. They have been neighbors and great friends for years, and it just recently turned romantic," the source explained.

According to the source, Barker had a longtime crush on the "Kardashians" star, which definitely helped spark their romance. "Travis has always had an eye for Kourtney. The chemistry and flirtation has always been there. They have a lot in common, and Kourtney has always been attracted to how Travis is as a parent. He's an amazing, hands-on dad, and Kourtney loves that about him," the insider shared.

One month after Barker and Kardashian's relationship was made public, the couple shared their first Instagram post together in February 2021. The post from Kardashian shows the two holding hands just days after Valentine's Day.

By April 2021, Barker took his romance with Kardashian to the next level by getting a tattoo to honor her. In a post from Kardashian, Barker is seen with her name in cursive tattooed on his chest, with her hand positioned below it.

In August 2021, the drummer got on a plane for the first time since being in a deadly plane crash in 2008. The crash, which killed four people, including Barker's personal assistant and security guard, left him with third-degree burns on 65 percent of his body and a lengthy recovery that consisted of 16 surgeries, per The Independent. Following the traumatic incident, Barker was diagnosed with PTSD and refused to fly for many of Blink-182's concerts, but 13 years later, he got on a plane with the help of Kardashian.

In an interview with Nylon, Barker cited Kardashian as the reason he was able to overcome his fear of flying, saying, "It's still something very new to me, but having something that gives me the strength and hope to be able to overcome things that were so traumatic in my life, it just says a ton. [Kourtney]'s definitely that for me. I'm invincible when I'm with her. It's just like I never dreamed. I never even considered flying again."

Barker and Kardashian made their red carpet debut as a couple at the MTV VMAs in September 2021. The couple wore matching black outfits and surprised many with their passionate PDA, which has since become a common occurrence for the pair.

Though the two were not officially married during the ceremony, as they hadn't obtained a marriage license prior, the wedding served as a practice run for their future showstopping ceremony in Italy.

On May 15, Barker and Kardashian got legally married at the Santa Barbara courthouse, with Kardashian's grandmother Mary Jo "MJ" Campbell and Barker's dad, Randy, present, as reported by InStyle. The civil ceremony was held one week before the pair's romantic Italian ceremony in Portofino, Italy. The family affair included the pair's children: Kardashian's sons, Mason and Reign, and daughter, Penelope, as well as Barker's son, Landon; daughter, Alabama; and stepdaughter Atiana. Barker and Kardashian were open about their desire to have a baby together and their journey with IVF since their relationship took off. After months of IVF, Kardashian revealed in a May 2023 episode of "The Kardashians" that they had stopped the fertilization treatment for good. "We are officially done with IVF," she revealed (via People). "We would love a baby more than anything, but I really believe in what God has in store for us.
