Are Adele and Sam Smith the Same Person? Just Humor Us For a Second

If you google "pictures of Adele and Sam Smith," your search query will return with zero results. That's because both of pop music's biggest superstars β€” who just so happen to be soul singers from the UK β€” have yet to be photographed together. After doing some digging, I also discovered that Sam and Adele have never attended the same events in public. Strange, I know. At first, I assumed that maybe the two vocal acrobats just hadn't run into each other, but now I know that by some weird coincidence, they never seem to be at the same place at the same time β€” which begs the question: are Adele and Sam Smith the same person?

As silly as that question might sound, I'm not the only one who has thought of it at some point. Seriously, check the record. I don't know if it's because fans want so desperately to see Sam and Adele together or we're all just dying for a duet between the two. I mean, are we even ready? I don't think we are. Humor me for a bit as I investigate all the ways Sam and Adele could be pulling double duty and playing tag team with our wigs as the same person.

They both released their best bodies of work after heartbreak.

Both Adele and Sam have been open about the fact that their Grammy Award-winning albums, 21 and In the Lonely Hour, respectively, were inspired by men who caused them heartbreak. "For ages I was like, 'As if he deserves any f*cking kudos for inspiring my record,'" Adele told Vogue in 2012. "But now, after some time, it only seems right that the person who so far has had the biggest impact on me β€” has now changed my life for f*cking ever with this album β€” deserves a little credit."

Sam expressed those same sentiments about his album at the 2015 Grammys, saying, "I wanna thank the man who this record is about, who I fell in love with last year. Thank you so much for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys." What are the odds that both of them were heartbroken by the same person and able to produce such great, emotionally charged content?

Both sang a James Bond theme song.

It's a distinguished honor to be chosen to sing a James Bond theme song. In 2012, Adele was tapped to do just that. "Skyfall," a song from the James Bond film of the same name, went on to win a Grammy and best original song at the 2013 Oscars.

Not long after, Sam followed up with his own anthem, "Writing's on the Wall," for Spectre, which also won best original song at the Oscars in 2016. It was the second time a James Bond song had ever done so, following Adele's victory. Noticing a trend here?

They both shy away from the spotlight when they're not releasing music.

If you haven't been paying attention, allow me to point out the fact that whenever Adele or Sam isn't promoting new music, they both take time off from the limelight. But here's where things get eerie: somehow their musical hiatuses seem to coincide at the right time.

For instance, when Adele returned with her new single "Hello" in 2015, Sam conveniently announced that he was taking a break from music. Now that Sam has returned with his new album, The Thrill of It All, Adele has wrapped up her tour and rarely made public appearances.

Adele's voice sounds just like Sam's when slowed down!

As if we needed more proof, new evidence that Adele and Sam are indeed the same person emerged recently when Twitter user jesse21valona slowed down Adele's "Hello" record β€” lo and behold, she really does sound like the R&B crooner when her voice is altered. Listen for yourself above. Convinced yet? You should be!
