Jill Biden's Divorce Advice to Kelly Clarkson: "Things Are Going to Look Better Tomorrow"

We're putting it on record: Jill Biden and Kelly Clarkson are one of our new favorite duos of 2021. On Feb. 24, Jill had her first solo TV interview since becoming FLOTUS as part of The Kelly Clarkson Show's "White House Edition." During their conversation, the pair discussed everything from what Jill hopes to accomplish as FLOTUS, including free community college for all and cancer research, to their shared past relationship struggles, including Kelly's divorce filing from Brandon Blackstock in 2020.

They left no stone unturned, even having Jill answer a few questions from Kelly's virtual audience about what she was looking forward to post pandemic. There was also an appearance by First Dogs Champ and Major, who adored Kelly just as much as the rest of us do. You can see some of Jill and Kelly's best moments from the special below.

After a short stop in the Diplomatic Reception Room, aka the "Dip Room," of the White House, Kelly and Jill went outside for some face time with Champ and Major. It didn't take long for Kelly to win the First Dogs over, with Major eagerly walking to the host for a few well-deserved pets. Jill even shared the one place the dogs aren't allowed to be: the furniture. However, that hasn't stopped Major.

Kelly also took a moment to thank Jill for being a role model and showing how "you can dream incredibly big here and actually make it happen." The pair then bonded over being small-town girls who made it big with Jill adding, "The American dream is alive and well."

First Lady Jill Biden on Balancing Work and Motherhood

Jill made sure to speak with Kelly about what was most important to her as part of her FLOTUS agenda, including education. "I am fighting for free community college. I've been doing that since we were in the Obama-Biden administration," she said. "I've been fighting to change the face of cancer, as we know it . . . It's not a Republican thing or a Democrat thing, it's a human issue . . . and we must get cancer under control." She also went on to discuss how, before they can do anything, they need get the pandemic under control.

Kelly and Jill then talked about how it's hard to find balance as busy women/mothers. "I think [the pandemic has] really exacerbated everything that moms have to handle," she added.
