Where You've Seen Bill Skarsgard Before (Besides the Scary It Clown Suit)

By now, you probably know that the remake of Stephen King's It is rapidly approaching. In the past month, we've met the cast and seen a nightmare-inducing trailer that's more than enough to scare the sh*t out of us. Upon viewing the trailer, we're sure you can't help but wonder who's taking on the role of Pennywise the Clown. Well, his name is Bill Skarsgard, and yes, he's related to Alexander Skarsgard, and yes, you've probably seen him somewhere before. Let's go over his biggest credits.

Simple Simon (2010)

This is perhaps the most notable film from Skarsgard's Swedish cinema past. It's about a boy with Asperger syndrome who's trying to help his older brother find a girlfriend.

Anna Karenina (2012)

Remember the Keira Knightley-driven adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's famously hefty novel? Skarsgard plays Captain Makhotin, who rivals Count Alexei Kirillovich Vronsky (Anna's lover) in an intense horse race.

Victoria (2013)

This Norwegian drama features Skarsgard as Otto, the son of a local miller who falls in love with the daughter of a landowner.

Hemlock Grove (2013-2015)

Skarsgard may be a demonic, shape-shifting entity in It, but on the Netflix original series Hemlock Grove, he plays a half vampire. The show is among Netflix's first batch of original series, and it's intense and terrifying.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant — Part I (2016)

In this dystopian YA series, Skarsgard plays Matthew. He's the first person to greet Tris when she gets to the "Bureau," which is situated outside Chicago.

Atomic Blonde (2017)

Here's a fun one! Chances are you've seen the trailer for that badass new Charlize Theron movie, Atomic Blonde. Bill Skarsgard will appear in the film as well, as a character called Merkel.

It (2017)

Then, of course, there's the It remake. Skarsgard will step into the very large shoes of the iconic villain Pennywise the Clown.
