The Subtle Ways The Walking Dead Is Honoring Glenn and Abraham

We're fresh off the midseason finale of The Walking Dead, and there's a lot to mull over in the months ahead. We're still trying to process that brutal double-death sequence and feeling conflicted about Negan's wrath, but in the meantime, there's something else to discuss when it comes to the eighth episode of season seven. It seems TWD is keen on honoring the dead. As the first half of season seven wrapped, we caught a few subtle tributes to the late Glenn Rhee and Abraham Ford.

Glenn's Hat

The baseball cap was one of Glenn's defining characteristics in the earlier seasons of the show. Despite the fact that he sort of abandoned it in recent seasons, it's a strong explanation for why Maggie has suddenly decided to wear a hat all the time. Also, if you look really closely at Maggie's, it almost looks like it could be a very dirty, faded version of the one Glenn wore?!

Abraham's Gloves

Another accessory that Maggie seems to have taken to: fingerless gloves. It's pretty easy to spot Abraham's gloves in nearly every scene he's in. Whether or not Maggie took her late friend's gloves is up to interpretation, but the tribute is certainly there.

Daryl's Escape Disguise

This one may seem like a bit of a stretch, but once they're side by side, it's hard to ignore them. During his escape from The Sanctuary, Daryl dons a dark gray t-shirt, a plaid button-up, and a baseball cap. It looks so much like Glenn's outfit when we meet him in season one. It can't be a coincidence, right?
