Why Am I Just Now Finding Out Dan Levy Hosted The Great Canadian Baking Show?

I was today years old when I learned that Dan Levy formerly hosted The Great Canadian Baking Show, and I'm honestly ashamed it took me so long to be enlightened to this fact. Seriously, if I'd known this sooner, I would've fast-tracked my secret plan to escape to Canada, and my emotional well-being would likely be in a far greater place than it currently is, but alas, I digress.

Dramatics aside, here's what I can tell you about Levy's time on The Great Canadian Baking Show: He starred on the CBC TV series's first two seasons back in 2017 and 2018, hosting alongside English actress Julia Chan until they both bid adieu to the gig last year due to "scheduling conflicts." (If I had to guess, I'd say that probably translated to producing and starring on Schitt's Creek's incredible final season for Levy.) As for the show itself, it's the Canadian version of The Great British Baking Show, bringing together 10 contestants for a series of challenges that only begin once Levy and Chan exclaim the famed "ready, set . . . bake!" catchphrase.

The major downside of learning about Levy's TGCBS hosting stint? It's virtually impossible to watch the full episodes and see him in action if you live in the States because, y'know, it's a Canadian show. Luckily, there are a few fun clips and a boatload of GIFs floating around the internet, and it looks like Levy brought his signature charm and some big David Rose energy to the job. Until it's safe to rent a car, drive to the border of Canada, and binge-watch the first two seasons of TGCBS in the front seat of said rental car, replaying the videos and GIFs ahead will have to suffice.
