Kris Jenner Channels the Golden Age of Hollywood in Meghan Trainor's "Mother" Music Video

Meghan Trainor called in one of Hollywood's most famous moms for the music video for her song "Mother." In the video, released March 10, Trainor stars alongside none other than Kris Jenner, both of them dancing and smiling in a super-colorful, classic Hollywood-inspired bonanza. Jenner's kids were very vocal about supporting their mom on Instagram. Kourtney Kardashian commented, "THAT IS MY MOTHER 🔥," while Khloé Kardashian wrote, "Stop it I'm f*cking screaming! I am f*cking screaming! Oh my god thank God. This is really my mother! How lucky am I?? Meghan Let's be sisters."

Trainor first teased the arrival of the song on March 2. The singer, who's currently pregnant with her second child, shared a preview of the song in a clip posted to YouTube Shorts, in which she lip-synced to the track and danced in an oversize sweatshirt that read "Mother Up" and mostly hid her baby bump. Later that same day, she posted an Instagram video where she danced to the song while wearing a crop top and cradling her bump. Meanwhile, her toddler son, Riley, ran in and out of the frame.

The very poppy song has lyrics like, "I am your mother / You listen to me / Stop all that mansplainin', no one's listening / Tell me who gave you the permission to speak / I am your mother / You listen to me." The song samples the classic track "Mr. Sandman" as Trainor sings, "You just a bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum."

The next day, on March 3, Trainor posted an official #IAmYourMother dance on Instagram, alongside TikTok dance creators Brooke Blewitt and Jess Qualter. Interestingly, this isn't Trainor's first maternity-themed track; she released a song back in 2016 similarly titled "Mom" as a tribute to her mother, Kelli Trainor.

Trainor's last album was 2022's "Takin' It Back," and her most recent song, released in the same year, was "Made You Look," which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks in part to its popularity on TikTok. Trainor seems to be gunning for something similar with "Mother."

Trainor announced her pregnancy back in January. She and her husband, Daryl Sabara, already share their son, Riley, who turned 2 in February. Trainor also has an upcoming book about pregnancy, birth, and her days as a new mom coming this April, titled "Dear Future Mama." And to stay truly on brand, she cameoed in the new season of "How I Met Your Father" as a pregnant woman having a home birth.
