Donatella Versace's Sparkling Runway Shines Bright Like a Diamond
There's nothing subtle about a Versace show, but for Spring 2015, Donatella took overtness to a new, sparkly level. And we're not just referring to the blindingly bold crystal-encrusted finale. From windowpane caging to laser-cut designs and grommets decorating mod-1960s sheaths, embellishments were not just superbly flashy but appropriately oversize. And for those who thought illusion hemlines were on the way out, they were sure in for a surprise with the ultrasuggestive placement of them on otherwise typical colorblock floor-length dresses. (Same goes for bare midriffs.)
But perhaps our favorite looks from this bright runway were the ones that featured wide striped bands – the clean lines in strong colors transitioned from a one-shoulder strap to body-con wrapping, in an homage to the brand's oft-used greek key motif. We wouldn't be at all disappointed to see the likes of Jennifer Lopez being the first to debut them on the red carpet.
