Party On (Minus the Sugar) With This 5-Citrus Punch

Who really wants to play bartender at a holiday party? The answer is no one. That's when big-batch cocktails like eggnog, bourbon milk punch, and mulled wine come in handy. Albeit delicious, those traditional drinks can be on the heavy side, which is why I developed this light and bright citrus-y punch that earns its sweetness from orange juice. Feel free to adjust the ratios so the cocktail is sweet to your liking. I like to serve the spirits on the side so guests can mix in the amount they like, but the spirits can be mixed in too.

Citrus Punch

YieldServes 6

From Anna Monette Roberts, POPSUGAR Food

INGREDIENTS

    • For the punch:
    • 3 1/2 grapefruits, juiced (about 2 1/3 cups juice)
    • 1 1/2 oranges, juiced (about 1 2/3 cups juice)
    • 1-liter bottle club soda
    • Clear spirit like vodka or tequila, on the side or mixed in, to taste
    • For the garnish:
    • 1/2 grapefruit, sliced
    • 1/2 orange, sliced
    • 1 lemon, sliced, preferably meyer
    • 1 lime, sliced
    • 1 cup kumquats, sliced

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. In a large bowl (or punch bowl if you have one), combine all ingredients including garnishes, if you plan to serve immediately. Otherwise, combine all ingredients except for the club soda, and refrigerate. Stir in the club soda when ready to serve.

    Notes

This recipe is more of a guideline than anything. It's extremely easy to juice up a big batch of grapefruits and oranges and refill the punch bowl as needed! I like to chill the citrus and the club soda so the punch is cold as well as serve large ice cubes on the side.
