DIY Terrarium

Turn a Glass Candle Holder Into a Sparkling Fall Terrarium

Embrace Fall with decor that stands the test of time. We partnered with Pier 1 Imports for this post for creating a DIY terrarium you are going to love.

I love decorating for Fall. It's the time of year you can go all out with shimmering lights, autumnal colors, and, of course, pumpkins. The season blends right into the holidays, so finding ways to furnish with items that translate throughout the months makes it easy and fun. And this sparkling DIY decor will actually grow and change all on its own.

What You'll Need:

Directions:

  1. Using a lantern for a terrarium is so pretty — and you can enjoy it all year round. Start by making a base for the plants to sit on by covering with plastic or tinfoil, protecting the lantern from moisture.

  1. Gently start tucking the sedums and succulents around the base of the lantern. Sedums and succulents are hardy little plants that don't need much to thrive, so a light watering every week is more than enough for a happy terrarium.

  1. For a touch of Fall, nestle in a battery operated light. We love this one that looks like a birch tree, and a few sparkling pumpkins add a cute accent. But for the final touch, a strand of shimmering lights turns the terrarium into a fairy land.

  1. Find a spot for displaying your finished terrarium and you're sure to get lots of compliments.
