10 Latin Singers That Would Bring Down the House at the Super Bowl Halftime

Sure, Coldplay is cool and all (who doesn't love their new album?), but if we were on the committee that chooses artists for the much-awaited Super Bowl halftime show, there would be a lot more Latin acts up on that stage. So we decided to round up our ultimate wishlist of performers that would make all 50 states get on their feet and dance. One can dream, but here's also hoping the NFL takes note for next year!

Shakira

Who can forget the "Waka Waka" World Cup anthem for the 2010 games in South Africa? If Shakira can get people around the world — who weren’t even sports fans! — riled up and excited to watch soccer, we're pretty sure she would blow away fans of American football. And if all else failed, we'd be dazzled by her superhuman abs and crazy belly-dancing skills.

Dear Super Bowl Host Committee: we hereby respectfully demand that you get Marc’s voice and songs up on that stage ASAP. Picture it: Marc letting those amazing pipes echo throughout a huge stadium as he belts out "Vivir Mi Vida" or "Tu Amor Me Hace Bien." It would be perfection, don't you agree? Sincerely, Latinos everywhere.

Jennifer Lopez

She's taken the stage everywhere from the Grammys to the World Cup, she's got eight albums under her belt, and she's currently ruling Las Vegas — so why not call on Jenny From the Block to grace the Super Bowl stage? We see her up there hyping up the crowd with performances of "Booty" and throwbacks like "Love Don't Cost a Thing" and "Let's Get Loud."

Pitbull

Does anyone do an upbeat, crowd-pleasing show like Pitbull? From "Time of Our Lives" to "I Know You Want Me," he's had success across all genres — and knows how to get the party started. We think Mr. 305 is an obvious choice to bring the house down. And come on: the man makes a suit look good!

Selena is having a major moment right now (it is her revival, after all!), so let's just let her rock the Super Bowl stage. Many sexy outfits would be expected, and more than a few members of her squad would probably show up to support her.

Demi Lovato

The former Disney star gave us all a little more confidence last year, so she's definitely one of our top picks for a Super Bowl performance. She's hot and she's got the dance moves — and voice! — to dominate the stage. Plus, we can already imagine all of the memes and GIFs of her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama adorably cheering her on from the sidelines.

Ricky Martin

Do we even need to explain this one? Ricky is the crossover Latin/pop king, and his signature tight leather pants would only be topped by huge, over the top renditions of "Livin' La Vida Loca" and "The Cup of Life." And for the grand finale, we'd have a special request: bring out those adorable twins, Matteo and Valentino!

Gloria Estefan

She's one of the greatest performers of the last few decades, and with the success of her musical "On Your Feet," we'd bet viewers would enjoy seeing her bring it to some of her greatest hits — from "The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" and "Conga" to, of course, "On Your Feet."

She's royalty among Latin music fans, and it's time the songstress gets her due on a major American stage. Whether it's "Piel Morena" or any of her other hits, we want to see the star kill it during halftime — and then talk about how awestruck we are that the Mexicana is 44 and still looking like a 20-year-old!

Romeo Santos

He's already sold out Yankee Stadium — two nights in a row! And even if the American public doesn't know the uber-talented bachatero well enough just yet, he could easily join other pop acts to add some Latin flair to football's biggest night. Plus, we'll admit it: we wouldn’t mind the eye candy.
