9 Moments You Might Have Missed From Trump's Absurd CPAC Speech

One way to look at President Donald Trump's public speeches is there's never a dull moment. During his address to the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Feb. 24, Trump's speech was expectedly loaded with inconsistencies, attacks on the media, and a downright bizarre allusion to Russia via the audience. Seriously: staffers scrambled to confiscate Russian flags with Trump's name emblazoned across them from audience members who were waving them. You can't write this stuff!

Here are nine moments you might have missed from Trump's CPAC speech in National Harbor, MD.

  1. When he maintained that a nonexistent terror attack happened in Sweden.

Wow. Trump is *still* maintaining an imaginary attack in Sweden actually occurred and that media refuses to cover it. pic.twitter.com/g740bPfLl5

  2. When he wasn't quite sure how to structure a sentence.

  3. When his supporters were caught waving flags that looked awfully familiar to the Russian flag.

  4. When he reacted warmly when his supporters resurfaced a campaign favorite: chants of "lock her up" about Hillary Clinton.

Trump smiles when the crowd chants, "Lock her up." As president, that's acting like an authoritarian or worse.

  5. When he reiterated that the media was an enemy of the state.

"And I want you all to know we are fighting the fake news. It's fake, phony, fake," Pres. Trump says https://t.co/S8AtrHDxON pic.twitter.com/o2FH5w0qBW

  6. When he threatened the constitutional right to anonymous sources and freedom of the press . . .

CPAC audience just applauded a Trump proposal to violate First Amendment by banning anonymous sources.

  7. . . . right after he held an anonymous briefing with members of the press.

Trump says reporters shouldn't be allowed to use anonymous sources -- about an hour after his aides held anonymous briefing with press.

  8. When he blatantly lied about easily refutable crowd sizes, again.

The president claimed lines to get into his CPAC speech stretched 6 blocks. Per @kasie there are no lines, the event is not open to public

  9. 9. When he professed his adoration for Campbell's soup for the second time in 24 hours.
