Tracee Ellis Ross is ready to celebrate natural hair in more ways than one. In a video shared to her Instagram account on June 15, Ross announced that her natural hair-care brand Pattern would be launching phase two of its efforts to support curly, coily, and tight-textured hair. The brand originally launched in September 2019 and is officially back to draw attention to the importance of Black beauty and Black-owned businesses.
"As we continue to protest and gather and strategize and hold those in power accountable and reimagine our future and vote, I am reminded that celebrating Black beauty is a part of this revolution," Ross said in the video. "I'm reminded of the importance of being an active space where we can see ourselves and our humanity and our joy and our glory and our softness and our strength . . . I'm reminded that sharing the beauty of Blackness, the power of Blackness, the importance of our Blackness has always been important."
In addition to opening up about the significance of Black beauty, Ross has also been sharing breathing exercises on her Instagram account to promote self-care and to encourage her followers to take care of their mental health amidst the fight to combat racial injustice and police brutality. Ross hopes to spread more love to her fans with the launch of Pattern's new nourishing hair products on Friday, June 19. "Let's celebrate who we are," she said. "Let's celebrate our beauty. Shall we? Because we are really beautiful."
New products in the Pattern line include hair-styling combs, buttery creams, strong holding gels, and more in full and mini sizes. All new hair-care products will be available on Pattern's website beginning June 19 and at Ulta stores and on the Ulta website beginning June 28.
