Want to give germs a run for their money? Besides washing your hands frequently and getting the flu shot, you can add a few habits to your day that aren't hard to do and will help you stay healthy and get ready to take on the hectic holiday season. Do these three things every day in order to help your body stay healthy and on the go all Winter long.

Give Yourself a Boost

Stay healthy from the inside out with foods that help you boost your health. Fill your diet with fruits and vegetables, which contain germ-fighting, plant-based phytonutrients. Great options include colorful options like leafy greens, berries, red peppers, and pomegranates. Foods full of probiotics are also a good bet during cold season, since they promote good, virus-fighting gut bacteria. Try adding yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, or other fermented foods to your diet as well.

Exercise Regularly

Want to stay healthy this season? You need to stick to your workout routine. Studies have shown that moderate cardio exercise helps boost your immune system by increasing blood circulation, reducing stress, and possibly flushing bacteria from your lungs. Take note to not overdo it, however: studies have shown that overtraining or too-vigorous exercise actually decrease your immune system's ability to fight germs.

Here are a few immunity-boosting workouts to add to your routine:

De-Stress

Stress can put a strain on your immune system, causing you to be susceptible to germs. Prioritize your health by keeping stress levels low. While you can't prevent things like busy schedules or holiday travel from making your blood pressure rise, you can do something about it. Incorporate a good stretch, a warm bath, or any one of these ways to de-stress into your day.
