When it comes to desserts, whipped cream is like that one friend who everybody loves. It pairs perfectly with so many things, from ice cream sundaes to pies to biscuits to hot chocolate to fruit. It's light, fluffy, oddly refreshing, and, as it turns out, incredibly easy to make! I recently tried Joanna Gaines's homemade whipped-cream recipe, and I definitely prefer her version to store-bought.

To make this recipe yourself, all you need are heavy cream, vanilla extract, sea salt, and sugar. Simply combine the ingredients, mix together, and enjoy — it's really that easy. Once it's done (it only took me three minutes), generously scoop it onto whatever dessert you're craving, or eat it straight from the bowl!

You'll know it's ready when the whipped cream forms soft peaks.
