Drive-in movie theaters have been a beloved summer tradition for decades. After first emerging in 1933 and gaining serious popularity in the 1950s and '60s, going to the drive-in offers something a traditional movie theater just can't. You get to snuggle up in your car, enjoy the night sky above you, and get a dose of nostalgia with the retro movie intro and snack bar videos (you know, the one with the dancing hot dog like from Grease).

While many drive-in theaters have closed over the years, a lot are still around and getting a new surge of interest this year. Because of social distancing restrictions, going to the drive-in is a much safer (and in my opinion, more fun) option to watch a movie. Plus, many drive-in theaters show classic summer films like Jaws, so you can rewatch an old favorite on the big screen.
