This Is What Earth and the Moon Would Look Like If You Lived on Mars

NASA | JPL-Caltech / Univ. of Arizona

Ever wonder what our home planet looks like from far away? How about from nearly 127 million miles away? Thanks to this newly released NASA image, now we know what Mother Earth and the moon look like all the way from Mars.

The stunning image combines two separate photos of Earth and the moon captured by a High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera orbiting Mars. When put together, the two images accurately depict the sizes and positions of the two bodies in relation to each other. Even though the moon may seem so close from our nighttime perspective, the distance between it and the Earth is actually about 30 times the diameter of Earth. You learn something new every day!
