When Michelle Obama attended the United Nations Gallery Assembly wearing a Self-Portrait dress, all we could think was, "Yessss." The fashion crowd has been cheering on designer Han Chong since he got his start rolling out "naked" midis and his Spring 2017 collection was edgier than ever before.

But now Kate Middleton's showing her support, debuting a crisp white silhouette from the label at the London premiere of A Street Cat Named Bob. At first glance, the duchess's maxi will remind you of a modest wedding gown. But Kate's piece has a thigh-high slit and a peek-a-boo bodice that's playful, just like Ms. Obama's mixed media fit-and-flare.

Kate embellished her number with a ruby pin, a cranberry suede clutch, and matching heels. While her original Self-Portrait dress is no longer available, a similar style is shoppable in black, and there are plenty of alternative options to try, too. Read on to get inspired, then get in on the Self-Portrait craze.
