From cottage cheese ice cream to baked oats that taste like chocolate chip cookies, TikTok is full of recipes that claim to be healthy alternatives to classic sweets — and the latest date-bark obsession is no different. TikTokers across the app swear this recipe, first shared by creator @thathealthjunkie, tastes just like a Snickers bar, but in this case, it isn't just clickbait. Much like a real Snickers, chocolate and nuts make up the main components of the date bark; however, instead of caramel, it calls for medjool dates. Though you probably wouldn't expect a dried fruit to be a tasty caramel alternative, medjool dates actually have a texture and sweetness that is comparable to caramel.

To make date bark, you start by arranging a layer of dates on a baking tray. This is followed by a layer of peanut butter sprinkled with any nuts of your choosing. Some TikTokers also suggest adding shredded coconut and sea salt, but for a more Snickers-like taste, you'll want to stick to peanuts. Melted chocolate then makes up the top layer, and after a few minutes in the freezer, your date bark will be ready to chop up and enjoy. While it won't taste exactly like a Snickers bar, it'll definitely satisfy your craving for one, especially if you're looking to reduce your intake of added sugar.

If you don't want to make a whole tray of date bark, luckily the recipe is also easy to scale down. Most of the recipes being shared on TikTok call for at least a dozen dates, but you can just as easily use a cupcake tin to make mini ones with only one or two dates at the bottom. If you're a big fan of Snickers, though, you may want to plan for a bigger batch, because these really do taste similar to the beloved candy. Check out the full recipe below to learn how to make the TikTok-trendy date bark.
