Instagram Just Unveiled Live Rooms — Here's What You Need to Know About the New Feature

Instagram just released a new feature that allows users of the app to go live with up to three people (including themselves) as opposed to just one. Previously, IG users could go live and add one other person to the stream, but with this new feature, people can now increase a live to four people total. The platform is hoping that by making Instagram Live bigger, people will have more creative opportunities to connect with others.

If you want to host a live with four people, here are step-by-step instructions on how to do so. First, start a live video. Once you're live, then click on the little video camera with the plus sign that's in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. This will then pull up a screen that says "go live in a room." From there, you can see people who have requested to join your room. Click their names, hit "invite," and they'll be able to join.

Aside from just being able to chat with more friends, Live Rooms also give creators more ways to build their businesses and earn money. Before this new feature, Live viewers could purchase badges for their favorite creators to show their love. Now with Live Rooms, viewers can buy badges for the hosts and use other interactive features like Shopping and Live Fundraisers. This will help content creators sell merch, products, and more in a much easier fashion.

The next time you want to start a talk show with your colleagues, host engaging Q&A sessions about your brand, or just (virtually) hang out with more of your friends, use IG Live Rooms to share your content with your followers. This new feature is great for all Instagram users from fitness instructors and beauty bloggers to chefs and activists, and so much more. Thanks to IG, you can now reach more people in more creative ways.
