H.H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer

If you're interested in sleeping tonight, maybe leave Borowski's award-winning documentary about Dr. Henry Howard Holmes for another day. As one of the country's first (and most heinous) serial killers, Holmes confessed to 27 murders during his "trial of the century" in 1895. It's said that he had as many as 200 victims, most of whom he tortured in his hotel (which he designed with special torture rooms). He's also served as the inspiration for American Horror Story: Hotel and the antagonist in the 2013 novel The Shining Girls.
