There's a Simple Reason Evan Mock Has a Pink Buzz Cut in the Gossip Girl Reboot

The Gossip Girl reboot hasn't even aired yet, and we're already learning some exciting behind-the-scenes beauty secrets about the show's cast. Evan Mock, the actor who plays Aki Menzies, for example, is depicted in the show's trailer as an edgy character with a pink buzz cut — and the story behind his character's hairstyle is actually pretty interesting.

According to Mock's colorist Jackson Heller, the actor had pink hair way before joining the Gossip Girl cast, as he actually dyed it pink after losing a bet with a few friends. Upon accepting the role in the upcoming reboot, Mock was allowed to keep the color simply because it fit the character.

"Evan has had pink hair for years, so the first time I colored it, I wanted to elevate it with a softer, more unique hue that almost looks like a pink pearl," Heller told POPSUGAR. According to Heller, Mock's "pink pearl" hair color and buzz cut both require a decent amount of maintenance in the form of weekly touch-ups.

"We're both so used to the weekly touch-ups, which usually means me bringing my color kit to his apartment and doing the buzz and bleach and tone there in his kitchen," Heller said.

We can already see the "pink pearl" hair color becoming a huge summer trend. The Gossip Girl reboot is set to premiere on July 8 on HBO Max.
